Kashmir is one breathtaking place in our country that has to be ticked off your bucket list. Our trip to Kashmir is unique from all others you can find. We will be staying 2 nights in the beautiful Aru Valley, taking a pony ride to lidderwat, trekking to a frozen lake, rafting down the lidder river and visiting the off beat Aharbal falls. Join us for an immersive Kashmir experience.
Arrive in Srinagar airport. Transfer to our boutique hotel right opposite dal lake. The moment you step out of the plane, the pleasant weather greets you and you are surrounded by mountains on all sides. It’s a sight to behold. After refreshing at the hotel, head out to dal lake for a shikara ride. The shikara ride is a great opportunity for you to witness the chaotic life of Srinagar from the calm and quiet of the lake. The best part about travelling in August is that the place is in full bloom and the shikara ride just gets a whole lot better with picturesque mountains flanking the lake and the Mughal gardens and the markets overlooking the lake with pride. Later, we will try authentic Kashmiri food for dinner. The Kashmiri wazwan is a local delicacy and personally I’m a huge fan. 0/N in Srinagar.
After a hearty breakfast, we shall start our drive towards Aru valley. We will be passing through apple orchards and we shall surely stop enroute to taste some delicious apple juice from the apples sourced locally. The drive today is beautiful and the Lidder river keeps us company throughout. The mountains look over us just as they have looked at thousands of people over the years. We should comfortably reach Aru Valley by noon.
After a small stop for lunch, we will head out to Lidderwat, the place referred to as the base camp by locals because it serves as the base for treks like the Tarsar Marsar and Mt.Kolahoi. However we won’t be trekking there but rather ride this beautiful valley on horseback for a fun, unique experience. There is forest cover for most part of the route but when it does open out to the meadows, we see the gushing river flow white and majestically. We should witness the sunset on our way back and trust me it’s magical.
Return to Aru Valley by 6. Overnight in the best homestay in Aru Valley.
Wake up to the most amazing views right from your bedroom. Freshen up and have a simple breakfast with the wonderful hosts who will make you feel at home with their kindness. Aru is a place where the people live and laugh with each other. The villagers will smile at you and welcome you to their humble abode. Nature is at her pristine best. Life is slow here and people enjoy talking to each other.Today, we will be trekking to Green Top. Locals say this is the best trek out there to catch a glimpse of the entire valley. The trek to green top is a total of 6 hours both ways. The trek is not that long, however the steep climb up to the top is quite a trek to be honest. We have no rush and so we will be stopping a lot on the trek taking pictures of this beautiful place. Once you reach the top, you will forget all the climbing you did when you see the valleys and mountains towering all over you. This place has a 360 view and you could just not get enough of it. We will have a nice little picnic at the top with the packed lunch that we will carry with us. Post lunch we will trek back to Aru Valley.
The evening is free end you can enjoy the solitude of the place without the tourists who would have left by then. 0/Nin Aru Valley.
After a hearty breakfast we will bid goodbye to the beautiful Aru Valley and start our journey towards Pahalgam. It’s just 12 kms away and we should be there quite early. We will then try our hand at river rafting on the Lidder river. Rafting here is a surreal experience even for a beginner because of the gentle rapids but more importantly the breathtaking scenery all the way down the river. Later, we will proceed towards Aharbal falls. This falls is quite off the tourist trail and is just mind blowing . | usually don’t like to just see a waterfall but rather swim under it but even though it isn’t possible here, it is well worth your time. The roads to get there are narrow but scenic like in a movie. It is literally a hidden gem in Kashmir. We will spend some time here before we head back on our way to Srinagar. Enroute we will be going through Pulwama, known for the deadly bombing a few years ago.Evening will be free to roam the streets of Srinagar. Overnight in Srinagar.
Today is a very exciting day as we will be travelling to the beautiful Gulmarg. All of Kashmir is beautiful, but Gulmarg, not just the place, but even the route to it makes my heart sing. The route is full of Pine trees, Deodars, Chinars, Amaltas and Kikar trees flanking the mountainside and rendering the tall hills an even greater beauty. We will be leaving early to get the first Gondola ride of the day at about 9. We will take the world’s highest cable car all the way up to Apharwat peak. At a height of more than 4000 metres, the views from the second level of the gondola is such a treat to your eyes. Later, we will do a trek to the Alpather lake. The beauty of this lake is that it is frozen for 8 months a year and we are right on time to get a glimpse of this amazing place. The total trek time to and fro will be about 2 hours. | would go there even if it took me a day. That’s how impressive it is. We will trek back to the Gondola station and head down to Gulmarg. Post lunch in Gulmarg, we will be heading back to Srinagar for the night. In the evening you are free to shop to your hearts content. We will have a blast in the night to celebrate our wonderful Kashmir trip. 0/N in Srinagar.
Today we will be trying out the floating market on Dal lake. You can buy fresh fruits, vegetables breads and even drink a hot Kehwa right in your shikara. Those that wish to see the floating market will have to be up early since this market functions only from 4 Am to 7 Am. The sunrise from the lake is one hell of an experience. After a hearty breakfast you will be dropped off at the airport for your return flight.
All our group trips have about 18-20 people. Mostly every trip has 60% girls and 40% boys. At least 50% of the people come solo, and the rest come with a friend or two. The groups comprise mostly of people who are looking to do a different trip, who want a slice of adventure, who aren’t expert adventurers or hardcore trekkers but people who love nature, want to experience adventure, want to travel with strangers, discover life a little more.
If you are coming alone, by default you will be paired with another person of the same gender travelling alone, on the first day of the trip. As the trip progresses, if later, you and another person want to share a room, you are perfectly welcome to do so.
We want to have like minded people on the trips, and want to keep the demographic similar, so the age group we take is 20-40. Most people coming on the trips lie in the age bracket of 25-35. Some trips, we design specifically for other age groups, themes as well.
We have an array of stay options based on the destinations. We sometimes stay at homestays to get a feel of the local culture and food. We stay at 3/3.5 star hotels where possible and campsites in off beat destinations.
Every trip will be led by Prithvi Krishna until we find like minded team members to lead trips.
On most trips, the only lifting around of bags you have to do is from the airport to the private minibus in the parking lot, and from the hotel doorstep to your room. Bags stay in room, top of bus most of the time. So it doesn’t matter what kind of bag, trolley, suitcase you carry on the trip. Carry whatever is most convenient for you. If we want you to bring something specific, the itinerary, the mails will mention that explicitly. Just get a shoulder bag along for day trips or one day camping in off beat locations.
Almost all our trips are designed, not for hardcore adventurers nor expert mountaineers. They are mostly for beginners. Through our trips, we are trying to encourage people who want to have a taste of adventure, who love nature, who want to try something new, something different; who have read of other people trying things, and want to try themselves; the treks will do will challenge a beginner slightly, will be enjoyable for someone who is moderately fit, and that is the objective.
